Bridget got stitches

It was a very snowy day today.  The kids did play in the snow this morning, but for the most part we stayed inside, did not go anywhere.  In the late afternoon I got everyone in the car and we went to deliver some bread bears to neighbors for a Christmas treat.  It was shortly after 5pm when we got home, everyone was hungry, so we were starting dinner when Bridget begins to cry frantically from the bedroom, “I’m bleeding.”  Ammon is wiping the blood from her hand and then there is no cut…he says “where is the blood?”  Well, turns out Bridget has a nasty gash on her chin.  Should we try to glue it, butterfly bandage, or does it really need to see the doctor?

Bridget is screaming and throwing a major tantrum that she is not going to the doc, but we think it best.  Thankfully the doctors office has after hours clinic and they do stitches.  She got numbing gel applied for about 20 minutes and then the doc was able to stitch the wound closed, approximately 8 stitches.   Bridget was a brave girl.  I think the pain must have been extreme, because once the numbing took effect she was very calm.

Exciting times right before Christmas and her 5th birthday next week.  She is the first of all the kids to need stitches.

  1. Bridget was very calm today as she got the stitches out! She needed her eyes covered when the doctor came in the room, sometimes she has a shy streak, but other than that she was quiet and still. She insisted I call the doctor at 8:30 this morning because it was Monday and he said to call and get her stitches out on Mon. What a good memory.

  2. Bridget will most likely set many records in your family! She is full of energy and excitement. The things kids do it’s surprising we don’t go gray sooner! I loved all the posts and pictures what a wonderful history you are keeping. Can’t wait to hear you are in labor and #6 comes safe and sound and we hope this is a really happy easy baby for you. You two are wonderful parents so these kids are really blessed to be yours!
