Busy Week

It was a busy week.  Last Sunday I was sustained in a new calling, Young Woman Miamaid advisor…and I have not been released as a cubscout den leader…so I get to go to mutual on Tuesdays and cubscouts on Wednesdays.

There was quite the line up of events this week.  Pictures say it best!

Calvin’s kindergarton class program.

Sterling playing in water Monday eve.

The last week of Preschool Pals.  Logan already to “graduate.”  He is excited to start Kindergarton in the fall.

The preschool kids. See it on driel’s blog

Logan and Bridget watching the school Dance Festival.

Calvin’s class danced to “The Ball and The Jack.”

Kimball’s class danced to “It’s Hip To Be Square.”

Sterling (10 months old) enjoying a little shade.

After the dancing we stayed and had a picnic lunch with the elementary school kids.  Kimball and Calvin are quite excited to have only 4 days of school left!

First Boat Trip 2009

We made our first lake trip!  Monday, for family home evening, we had an outing to the lake.  The boat did great, the suburban worked fabulous, and the family had lots of fun.  We attempted fishing for the first time (with no success), we took bread to feed the ducks (and never got any ducks close enough to eat the bread we threw), and we enjoyed good times riding around.  Sterling was not fond of the life jacket, but LOVED the anchor down and playing on the boat.  It was a fantabulous time!

Calvin lost his tooth earlier in the day.

Kimball was willing to smile for the camera!

Bridget calling the ducks…Sterling pinching the cover snap.

Logan and Bridget climbing.

The water was too cold to swim…I was sure someone would slip in…but with all the climbing around nobody fell in!  The kids did manage to get their hands or feet wet off the back of the boat.

Kimball fishing.  The kids each got a turn to fish.

Ammon took Kimball, Calvin, Logan and Bridget fishing again on Saturday.  They tried fishing at the dock, again no success (that is ok by me) but lots of fun and an early start to Saturday morning.  They were gone one hour and came home for breakfast and a Primary activity.  It was a busy day.

Standing

Sterling is starting to pull himself up to a standing position!  His favorite place to stand is the dishwasher…he wants to help unload it…even when they are dirty :)

I am George Washington

Kimball did a book report on George Washington.  As part of the project, he got to step through the “time machine” and tell about himself.  He did a great job memorizing his part and telling the audience about George Washington.

Happy to be done!

Five Years Old

Logan had a fun birthday with his preschool friends and later with the family.  We had a “time” theme, hence the clock cake, which was super cool to Logan because it had the “tick tock part” like on grandfather clocks.  Present time, cake time, and the game fox at midnight were probably the favorite “times.”

Happy Birthday Logan!

Outside

Bridget admiring the pretty tulips.

We have been working on the yard…mostly Ammon, but the kids help too.  Logan finds great satisfaction in helping his Dad!  Ammon has been pulling out dead and overgrown lilacs.  We made space for a new peach tree.

Sterling getting in on the tree planting action.

Ta Da!

Nine months old

Sterling went to his nine month doctor visit…he is huge and perfectly plump…but according to the “charts” his head is in the 25th percent and his height and weight are both on the small side reaching the 5th percent.  Who would have guessed that our chunkalicious cutie was so “little”???

stats:

length 26 1/2 inches

weight 17 lbs 4 oz

head circ 44.5 cm

Spring Break

This week was spring break for the kids.  We had lots of fun days, even with the surprising weather.

Monday we spent lots of time at the park and we went back to the park for a picnic dinner.  Very fun day to be outside!

Tuesday we were thinking of going to the zoo, but due to rain and the kids were at the tail end of a cold/cough we headed to Kangaroo Zoo, an indoor place to run, jump and play!  Rachel and Cameron joined in the fun.

Sterling discovered crawling thru the tunnel…oh so exciting!

Calvin up to bat.

Thursday we woke up to quite a surprise…with all the snow it felt more like Christmas than spring break!  What a bizzare storm.

Logan helping Ammon shovel all the snow…at least 6 inches.

A back yard view, oh the poor trees.  We only lost a few branches.

Calvin shoveling paths through the snow.

We spent most of the day inside.  Sterling and Bridget had a great time discovering under the table.  What fun to play peek a boo.

After dinner we did venture out and had a snow ball fight!  Dad versus everybody.

Friday was finally a spring like day.  We spent the afternoon at Hogle Zoo.  Sterling enjoyed being outside and Bridget really enjoyed seeing the animals.  I think the penguins were here favorite.

I got one picture before the giraffe stood back up…never knew how a giraffe “bent” down!

Our family.

It was fun to spend the afternoon at the zoo.  Fun to have Rachel, Brian, and Cameron there with us.

Happy times, fun memories!

Easter

We had a lot of fun on the last few days…coloring eggs on Friday, hunting eggs, eating candy, playing with cousins on Saturday.  This morning we got all dressed up in our Sunday best and went to Church.  It was a beautiful Easter Sunday, a time to reflect on Jesus Christ and the Resurrection.

I love my family.  Ammon watched the kids a bunch on Saturday so I could sew Bridget’s new dress!  It was really fun to sew, to create.  Today in church, I had my first solo…it went well and I am very glad it is over.

My Hero

My Grandpa, my hero passed away at the age of 97.  He was and is a great example of stalwart, faithful, hardworking, charitable, kind, generous…and the list goes on!

August 2008 Logan is photographer, Sterling meets Great Grandpa!

Singing to Grandpa for Family Home Evening, 2 days before his passing.

Grandpa’s funeral 6 April 2009

Before the funeral…see the happy kids…

…after the funeral :(  The kids did well, but it was a long day for them.

We love you Grandpa, we miss you, and we thank you for living such a wonderful life!

Sterling 8 Months Old

Sterling has 3 teeth now.  We have not used the oragel many times, but it is a wonderful teething toy!  Sterling praising the oragel.

Bridget and Logan want in on the action.

Watch out world Sterling is mobile!  He has been crawling for over a week, but never traveled very far.  It was a one knee and one foot crawl…but today he started following after people.

Check out his new fun:  pulling himself up to everything.
