First Haircut

The boys all needed haircuts, so last night was the night for haircuts.  Bridget was feeling quite left out.  Of course she needed a haircut too!  She was so proud to sit on the chair and wear the cape.  This was her first haircut.  I did try to even out the back of her long hair with scissors, but she wanted me to use the clippers.  I ran the clippers above her head and that was ok, but she seemed to understand that it wasn’t real.

Project

We have a place set up for the baby!  A neighbor gave us an old dresser.  Ammon and I (mostly Ammon) spent an afternoon sanding and then the following Monday I painted it white and bought new handles.  The baby clothes are all washed, folded and put away ready for this baby boy!

Potty Training

One of my least favorite things to do is potty training and I find myself 8 months pregnant and trying to toilet train Bridget! It is going OK. It has been just over 11 days and we are seeing some success. Just moments ago, Bridget took herself to the bathroom, WOW, Hooray, Yeah! She can do it!

Trampoline on the Lake

Saturday was the first hot day and we ventured out for an afternoon on the lake. The lake was BUSY! The kids thought the water was cold, but compared to the hot sun, the water was refreshing. The tramp takes over 30 minutes to pump up. The kids played on the hotdog and Hyrum kept them happy while Ammon got the trampoline filled. It was a fun afternoon, even Bridget was brave and tried out the toys and the water.

Happy Father’s Day!  The Primary kids sang two songs to the dads at Church.  Kimball seemed to sing all the words, Calvin sang quite dramatically on a lot of the parts, and Logan smiled and just stood there singing a few of the lines!  It was pretty cute.

Zoo Thoughts

We spent Tuesday evening at the Hogle Zoo. We had fun with Rachel, Brian and Cameron. The best quotes of the night came from Kimball and Logan!

Logan said “Mom, you bent down like this” as he touched the ground. He was so amazed that I, the pregnant mom, would bend down to pick something up for him!

Kimball was interested in reading the animal facts. He announced to Ammon: “Dad, if you were a monkey, you would be dead!” he he :) because that particular monkey lives 25-30 years.

Kimball also was fascinated with gestation facts. He said, “I wish we were beavers (he meant porcupines)” Why Kimball? “so we could have more kids!” Porcupines can have 2-6 offspring in just 4 weeks!

Water Trampoline

The water trampoline came on Monday! Ammon set it up in the back yard to test it out. We had half the neighborhood here for endless jumping, swimming, mud holes, and sunburns! It was a very loud and exciting afternoon. The kids wish it was still set up.  We plan to take it out on the lake this weekend!

Boy’s Quilts

Last spring I put some quilt tops together for the boys. In the fall I started the machine quilting. This morning I spent one hour quilting Calvin’s quilt and that is all I had left! Why did I wait so long? The beds look great with the matching spreads! The boys are thrilled to finally have their new quilts.

Happy Birthday

I made an ice cream cake for Ammon’s birthday.  When I went to put it in the freezer to harden the fridge died!  Oh the dilemma.  Ammon cleaned out the coils with the shop vac and pretty soon the fridge was working again.  What a relief.  The cake (though still quite soft) and all the food was saved thanks to Ammon!  The kids loved having a party for dad.  We can’t wait until his real present comes…a water trampoline for the lake!
