Steel Days

July 9-10 was Steel Days.  We went to the carnival, quilt and doll show, art show, book fair, swimming, parade, geocache treasure hunt, and car show.  We stayed very busy and had lots of fun.  The kids wish we had bought more carnival tickets, four rides each was just not enough, I will try to do better next time.

Calvin wanted to try the Ferris wheel and Bridget was brave enough to ride too.  They really liked it!

Sterling loved the bus in the parade.

The kids got quite a stash of hard candy.

Geo Cache:  We found the GPS locations and learned a little about the city history.

Each kid chose their favorite car to get a picture by…of course Bridget chose the pink Cadillac.

Sterling is the “big fish” around here.  He loves “fishies” so he had to have the fish pj’s.

4th of July Weekend (continued)

Monday July 5th we woke up really early and ventured to the hot air balloon festival.  We joined the masses of tired and sleepy people.  Thanks to Driel and Grandma we had donuts, bagels, fruit, water and life was pretty great again.  Being woken up is hard on some of the kids.  Sterling and Bridget thought it was great to get up and go bright and early.  The hot air balloons were impressive up close, and very exciting to watch in the sky.  The kids, especially Sterling, really loved the pink pig!  Notice we all needed jackets in July, unusually cool morning!

After a pizza lunch we had the best water fight ever!  Logan had us save empty milk jugs just for this water fight.  Justin and Ammon taught us the fine art of how to drench someone with the spray from a milk jug.  This is not for the faint hearted…some opted to stay safe on the deck and toss a few  water bombs.  I was a bit wet, so I didn’t catch any action pics!

a needed refill of the jugs.

Justin taught Bridget and Logan the joys of eating caramel ice cream topping by the fingerful!

There’s always room for ice cream!

Bridget went shopping with Justin to get the pizza and ice cream.  She was very excited that Justin let her choose some of the food…what a little shopper.

4th of July Weekend

We enjoyed the 4th of July weekend with Ammon’s parents, Justin, Driel (and family), and Breezy (and Gable).  We had a nice trip to the lake with a great BBQ, dinner at Thai Village, and then fireworks in the evening.  It made for an exciting yet long, no nap kind of day. I didn’t have my camera on the boat, so only pics of the picnic site.

More 4th of July to come!

End of June

Yeah…we have warm sunny days and the start of lake trips.  We went as a family mid June.  The water was pretty cold still.  The kids really wanted to swim…I opted to stay on the boat with Bridget!  The boys are really brave, Logan jumped off the hotdog, far from the boat, just to swim!  Oh kids are full of adventure!

Calvin, Logan and Bridget…we are fond of “no hands”

Sterling played on the hotdog instead of swimming in the cold water.

Driel, Evan and girls joined us for a boat trip the end of June.  It was lots of fun.

Taking easy rides for all the daring, and not so daring, little ones!

Always time for swimming…I think it is Calvin’s favorite part of going to the lake.

Sterling got his 2nd haircut the end of June.  He had long fine baby hair that needed a trim.  He is a handsome boy.

Busy June

The month of June was super busy.  Ammon and I both went to Youth Conf and Girls Camp.  Not only did we go as leaders, but we had to prepare for the activities and clean up too (but that is a given :).  Anyway, the kids were troopers, spending a few nights at Driel and Evans (Thank you, thank you!) while we were gone.  I enjoyed the opportunities, but am very glad to be home, clean, have my own bed, and be with my kids!

Eating dinner the first night of Youth Conf.

Sterling all beautiful with his own make up job.  He must put on make up whenever Mom does!

Busy June ended with summer weather and the start of boat season!
