Sample of Summer

Here is a glance at what we did this summer!

Summer:
Spending
Ultimately
Many
Moments
Enjoying
Recreation

Summer brought the familiar lake trips and new outdoor adventures for us!  We enjoyed hiking the Grotto in Payson canyon.  Camping at Yuba lake (minus the boat, because it was broken).  Bridget’s dance recital, ice blocking, soccer games, and the 4th of July fireworks just to name a few.

The kids loved the new U-ski and Kimball even attempted water skiing.

Back to school came all too soon.  Sterling is in Kindergarten and loving it.  Eigen enjoys mornings with mommy.  We love being a family.  We love all of you!

Sterling on Sunday

Sterling in his new birthday shirt from Grandma Diether

Sterling’s 5th birthday was Saturday. I am amazed he is 5 and will start school in one month. He is quite the chatter box. He is adored by most, after all he is “da wittlest kid in da pwimary.”
Well, Sunday was a new adventure for us. We were sitting in church and the Bishop stands to recognize and present a young man to be ordained to the priesthood. Bishop says something about some birthdays are special and Sterling perks right up…shoots his hand in the air…and hollers “Bishop.” I quickly shush him and a moment later he raises his hand and hollers a bit louder “BISHOP.” I shush him again and he is near tears as I tell him he can’t yell out in church. His sweet and sad reply “But mom I want to tell him yesterday was my birthday.” I assured him that the bishop wanted to know, but he needed to wait until after the meeting.
I forgot about the sudden raising of his hand and the happy hollering until the meeting ended and Sterling quickly headed for the stand to talk to the bishop.
Oh my sweet little guy was determined and successful in letting the bishop know about his birthday. He even got a high five! Good times.

Easter

Waking up can be hard, but waking up to dying eggs is super exciting!
Kimball opted out of dying eggs.  Gaming was calling to him.

Ready, set, go for the Rowbury Easter egg hunt.

Eigen went for orange eggs at first, to match his shovel.  He quickly switched to gathering all colors of eggs.

Sunday- Easter morning ready for Church.  Sterling did not want to have a picture and Kimball was already at Church.

Bridget wanted to be the Easter bunny.  She hid the eggs after Easter dinner for another egg hunt.  Eigen was prepared with two baskets.

Eigen the climber loves the fire hydrant.

We had a fun Easter weekend.  We went to Driel’s for another egg hunt in the evening.  Bonus dessert too.  It was super fun to spend time with cousins, aunts and uncles.

Look who has Braces

Logan got braces one week ago! We are already seeing progress! His upper front tooth came in behind the lower teeth…so braces to pull it forward and stop the damage to the tooth. Probably he will need braces again when all his teeth are in :)

Thanksgiving in Las Vegas: a fun filled weekend

A wonderful weekend in Vegas.  Beautiful sunshine, family and fun!

Enjoying the turkey dinner in the backyard! and lots of playing.

Sterling’s Joke

Have you heard Sterling’s joke?

A few weeks ago he proudly asked “what kind of shoe can you eat?”

drum roll……………………………………………………….
a cashew!

He was eating cashews at the time. Boy is he clever!

Ammon got to speak yesterday in Church and he told Sterling’s joke.  Sterling perked up his ears and was one proud little boy all day because his dad told his joke :)

Bubble Painting

Having lots of fun this summer. We tried a new craft, soap bubble painting from here.

Blow, print and dry!

It was super fantastic and quite messy. We went outside for blowing paint, but I highly recommend using a drop cloth or layer of newspaper to help make clean up quick! We put the paint/bubble solution in bowls and blew bubbles for about an hour. All the kids found the craft interesting, although my Sterling had a few mouthfuls of bubble paint, yuck. We tried one color prints, but really liked the multicolor ones best.
What to do with all the artwork? Make cards!
Cards for any occasion, made with love!

Sunday Afternoon Highlight

Enjoying the outdoors and following the wandering Eigen, Kimball spotted a cute little bird in the peach tree. Poor little bird must have been scared, but never flew away, he just kept hopping along the fence and in the trees. We enjoyed quite a bit of bird watching!
Kimball earned his first aid merit badge and his second class rank in Scouting!

Breezy and Driel Birthday Bash

OK, maybe not what some might consider a bash, but it was a lot of fun to get together and eat cake/ice cream.  Thanks for partying and thanks for remembering to wear your green, after all it was St Patrick’s day!

The exciting four layer cake.  The rainbow of colors was very impressive to all the little girls!Blowing out the candles.

The Lego Rockband party

One Beautiful Week, Sick again!

We enjoyed one wonderful week of good health…actually (and very thankful) most everyone has been fairly healthy this year. Eigen got a 2nd ear infection the first of February.

One week on Augmentin he broke out in hives all over his body; he is allergic to penicillin. It took a week for the hives to fade and another week before the pain/itching disappeared.
It was a glorious week. A few sunny days to spend some time outside, a happy baby who was willing to play on the floor, all was well.
Then came this week….fevers, coughs, kids home from school sick, grumpy baby who wants to be outside…etc. It seems to be rotating fast through everyone. Here is hoping they are all back to school and healthy tomorrow.
