First Boat Trip 2009

We made our first lake trip!  Monday, for family home evening, we had an outing to the lake.  The boat did great, the suburban worked fabulous, and the family had lots of fun.  We attempted fishing for the first time (with no success), we took bread to feed the ducks (and never got any ducks close enough to eat the bread we threw), and we enjoyed good times riding around.  Sterling was not fond of the life jacket, but LOVED the anchor down and playing on the boat.  It was a fantabulous time!

Calvin lost his tooth earlier in the day.

Kimball was willing to smile for the camera!

Bridget calling the ducks…Sterling pinching the cover snap.

Logan and Bridget climbing.

The water was too cold to swim…I was sure someone would slip in…but with all the climbing around nobody fell in!  The kids did manage to get their hands or feet wet off the back of the boat.

Kimball fishing.  The kids each got a turn to fish.

Ammon took Kimball, Calvin, Logan and Bridget fishing again on Saturday.  They tried fishing at the dock, again no success (that is ok by me) but lots of fun and an early start to Saturday morning.  They were gone one hour and came home for breakfast and a Primary activity.  It was a busy day.

Sterling’s first boat trip

Last Friday we made an evening trip to the lake.  It was the first time we have gone boating since Sterling was born.  He did quite well.  It was tricky getting the life jacket on him since he would just pull his little arms out of the big armholes, but with both Ammon and I working together we got him happily into the life jacket.

There was a little wind  and we have been having cooler nights…so by the time we got out to the middle of the lake it was a chilly outing.  Ammon and Kimball braved jumping in, Calvin slid in one time and Logan put his feet in.  I took care of Sterling and Bridget was the only one to get on the hotdog (just for play, not a ride).

It was fun to be out on the lake, even if it was chilly.  It was not a long trip, but definately a good time!

Celebrate Freedom

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Spending time with family is the best. We sure love when company comes to visit. The festivities started with Justin and Grandma Diether arriving Wednesday evening. Thank you to all for making our weekend exciting and fun!

The kids favorite activities with their favorite Uncle Justin included wrestling, babies, and diablo.

Grandma and Grandpa Diether, Breezy, Chan, Driel, Evan and Moriah came for the 4th of July. Going out to dinner at Thai Village was delicious and then we enjoyed a small fireworks display. FYI the favorite were parachutes, the “Mach III,” and the glow sticks at the end!

Saturday July 5th was an exciting trip to the lake. We had water skiing, hot dogging, swimming, walking the low river, trampoline on land, nice breeze in the shade, and a picnic lunch. The activities and family group made for an excellent day at the lake. (Sorry I forgot my camera, no pictures from me!)

Trampoline on the Lake

Saturday was the first hot day and we ventured out for an afternoon on the lake. The lake was BUSY! The kids thought the water was cold, but compared to the hot sun, the water was refreshing. The tramp takes over 30 minutes to pump up. The kids played on the hotdog and Hyrum kept them happy while Ammon got the trampoline filled. It was a fun afternoon, even Bridget was brave and tried out the toys and the water.

Happy Father’s Day!  The Primary kids sang two songs to the dads at Church.  Kimball seemed to sing all the words, Calvin sang quite dramatically on a lot of the parts, and Logan smiled and just stood there singing a few of the lines!  It was pretty cute.

Water Trampoline

The water trampoline came on Monday! Ammon set it up in the back yard to test it out. We had half the neighborhood here for endless jumping, swimming, mud holes, and sunburns! It was a very loud and exciting afternoon. The kids wish it was still set up.  We plan to take it out on the lake this weekend!

Cold Water

Yesterday was the last day of school!  It is Summer Vacation!  Kimball wanted to party.  We had a lunch picnic in the backyard, washed the car on the lawn, and went to the lake in the evening.  The water was COLD!  Only Ammon and Hyrum jumped in.  Kimball and Calvin took a ride on the hotdog (of course it was mild and slow so they wouldn’t fall in).  It was a very fun day!

First Boat Trip

It may have been a short outing, but it was so much fun to go to the lake. The water was a little cold, but all the boys braved it. Bridget and I chose to stay on the boat. We sure enjoy living close to Utah lake and can’t wait to make more evening trips to the lake!
