Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving.  Good times with family.  Plenty of fabulous food.  For the most part happy children.  I feel very blessed.

Bridget loved the pies…but most of all the whip cream.

Happy

The kids sang songs for a little program.  Eigen really loved the music.

This year the sisters made snowman cubes for the craft.  Easy fun crafty time.

And…since I never posted it…here is 2010 Thanksgiving too!

We all loved the bubbles

Shooting, but it was too cold for some of us.  I sat in the car with Bridget and Sterling.

and, of course, plenty of computer time for the boys!

Family is the best.  I am thankful for such wonderful family.  I love to spend time together!

The month of May, so long ago

The end of school was a very busy time, I am finally sharing a few pics!

Calvin and his 2nd grade class wrote and performed an opera.  Going to the “Princess Ball” at the library.  Eigen swinging.

Preschool trip to the farm.  Gorgeous day.  Bridget finally was brave enough at the end to feed the llamas.

Kimball and hundreds of 5th graders performed a musical celebration “Hope of America” at the Marriot center.

Bridget preschool graduation

Kimball at the state report fair!  He finished his project, it was a long process and he did a good job.

Driel invited us to Thanksgiving point gardens.  Bridget needed to wear her pretty pink princess dress and thrilled at all the gorgeous flowers.  It was one of the few beautiful spring days, very nice to enjoy the flowers and sunshine.  We had a picnic too.  (disclaimer, we did not pick the flowers, but little hands wanted to)

The garden took a transformation this year, Ammon built garden boxes.

May 20 Bridget and I invited some friends over for a princess party while the boys went to Fathers and Sons.  It was lots of fun to play princess with lots of little girls.  The morning after:

Eigen 4 months old

Friday May 27 School dance festival and field day.

Ammon put together new bunk beds and we started the rearranging of bedrooms.  Eigen in the crib sharing a room with Bridget (she loves it), Sterling and Logan in the new bunk beds, and Kimball and Calvin in bunks in the downstairs.  Eigen so happy…this was the beginning of not sleeping so well at night…here’s hoping he starts sleeping through the night really soon!

Yeah!  That’s May in a nutshell!

Spring Vacation

Mid April was Spring Break.  The boys had a full week off of school.  We went on an overnight trip to a far away place….Salt Lake City!!!  It was an adventure.  I loved the short drive and the exclaiming of joy when we were there after a mere 30 minutes in the car.

First stop, Gateway Discovery Museum.  Very busy that day, but we had good connections (Love ya Breezy) and got in without waiting in the long long line.  The kids loved all the hands on.

The kids absolute favorite was staying in a hotel; we had the swimming pool and hot tub to ourselves!  Not to mention the continental breakfast in the morning.  Sterling only fell out of bed once :(

We went to Temple Square on a quiet Friday morning.  We visited with sister missionaries, enjoyed the fountains and flowers, walked around the temple (trying to stay out of wedding photos), and then ate lunch at the Nauvoo Cafe.

It was a fun vacation.  We tried new things, saw new places and spent time together as a family!

March

March 8 Logan’s first grade play “King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub”

March 11 Craft day with sisters.  We made bread dough…yummy lunch!

March 12 Eigen 7 weeks and learning to eat his hands.

March 14 The boys had the day off of school.  We went to the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU and the Bean Museum.  The kids loved the museum.  Grandma and Grandpa Rowbury, Rachel Rice and boys, and Annette’s boys joined in the adventure.

March 25 Kimball’s 5th grade music program.  Bridget, Eigen, and I watched the daytime performance.  Sterling chose to stay home with Ammon working…he really missed his mommy, he was so sad.

Eigen Loves the swing.  He also has a big happy smile that melts my heart.

March 27 Happy Anniversary!  We had a busy Sunday :)  So romantic.  We had an evening out on Saturday!

March 31 Preschool field trip to the fire station.  Fun times.

Diether Gazette Article

March 28, 2011

Winter will you please end?  We have had some days of beautiful spring weather and then cold days of random rain, wind, and snow.  We do have daffodils in the front yard…there is hope for Spring.
What is happening in American Fork?  Eigen is happening.  A new baby is fun, everyday they learn new things.  Eigen is 2 months old, he is smiling tons and starting to converse with his own language of coo’s.  He is our first baby to love the swing.  He takes at least one nap in the swing every day.  I love that all of the kids adore Eigen.  Kimball and Bridget enjoy holding him, whereas Calvin prefers to visit with him.  6 kids, with such fun personalities, is a houseful of fun (we never have tears, teasing, or fights!).
Ammon and I celebrated our 12th anniversary March 27.  Love our kids, but must say loved going out to dinner just the two of us.
Kimball spent the last 2 months working on a state report.  He enjoyed learning about Rhode Island.  Getting the report and project board done took a bit of mother love.  What a great day when he took the completed report to school.  Kimball really enjoyed his 5th grade music performance.  They sang, danced, and recited poetry.  He even played the ukulele.  He did a great job.
Calvin surprised us by entering, and winning for 2nd grade, the school storytelling festival.  He memorized a Calvin and Hobbes story and did an excellent job performing to the whole school.  A little comedian.
Logan lost his 2 front bottom teeth.  He even pulled one himself.  He performed in a first grade play “King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub” and had a lot of fun being the duke.
Bridget and Sterling are constantly wanting to play computer!  Oh the drama when mom says it is time to turn it off.  Bridget is a little mother, loves Eigen.  Sterling has adjusted well to having a new baby brother, but does say “get me up” and wants to be held.
There it is, a glimpse into the Diether doings.

Love Kathy

The little mother

Bridget is loving having a new baby in the house.  She is so willing to help with Eigen.  She is a sweet little mother figure, always wanting to hold her brother.

She loves to rock-a-bye with Eigen, she tried playing “crazy 8’s” with him, and dressing him up.  She thinks it is funny and “tickles” when he tries to eat her arm.  One day she said in a soft and sincere voice, “I wanted a baby sister, but it’s ok, I love Eigen.”  Too precious.

Funny Bridget saying:

She loves kiwi’s, but she usually can’t remember what they are called, so she calls them “kili” or “bikini”  :)  “mom, can you peal this bikini?”  Hahahaha

Love my helpers, they are great kids.

Eigen at the Hospital

Eigen enjoyed the hospital.  He just slept and slept.  No time to eat.  One nurse commented that he was in denial about being born.  Never fear, once we arrived home Eigen joined the awake world and spent most of Sunday night awake and starving!  Must Eat!  The kids were the first visitors at the hospital and quite a fun lively crew.  What a great family we have.

Eigen Charles Diether born Saturday 22 January 2011

We were at the hospital just over 4 hours when he was born.

Flooding

What is up with the rain? I am counting my blessings…last night the heater was not kicking on and the house was getting chilly. We went down to change the filter (which solved the problem!!!) and found a nice flood in the basement. I am trying to be thankful for the heater problem…so at midnight we could take care of the flood, instead of an even bigger wet mess this morning! Frustrating.

Trouble, trouble, trouble…as if there isn’t enough to do to get ready for company and Christmas…we get Bridget needing stitches one day and flooding the next…hopefully no major problems happen today!

Halloween festivities

We enjoyed many halloween parties.  The kids loved dressing up.  The boys varied costumes, but Bridget always was in her pink to the toes dress.  She was a butterfly fairy, a princess, or whatever she wanted to be at the moment!  Sterling was Bob the builder, and I wish you could hear him sing the theme song.  He is a cute little singer!

Picture mania

Whoa…I imported all my pics from the camera last night and I have over two months of new pics…so here comes picture mania.  I hope to post lots over the next few days.

Calvin’s 8th birthday Oct 3.  He got two parties, first one on Friday with a few friends.  They were detectives and had to solve the mystery.  Then on Sunday with the family, lots of yummy cupcakes!

It’s great to be eight!  Calvin’s baptism Nov. 6
