We are canning, ever canning…can not wait to be done
Did I just say that? So, we have slowed down a bit. I need to do another batch of green beans and I do want to make applesauce (the season of apples is soon). Look how yummy, dinner is served!

Jackson Family Reunion
First day of School
Dino Museum
I finally took the kids to the dinosaur museum. It was one of the fun things to do this summer, well two days before school started we went (with a million other people) on a $2 Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point. We had lots of fun…even if we had to wait in line, much to Kimball’s disgust, for 25 minutes to get in. We sure enjoyed having Driel, Moriah, and Fiona join us.
The kids favorite parts included lots of sand: the erosion table and the dino dig!
Waiting for the museum to let us in! Sterling puts on this new squinty face to show both happy or frustrated. He was actually quite happy being outside, he did not mind the wait.
Driel, Sterling, Moriah, Bridget and Logan checking out dinosaur bones.
Building islands, pools, and dams at the erosian table.
Sterling attempts walking in the sand. He loved playing in the dino dig site. He has been walking for about 10 days. He still chooses to crawl most of the time, but each day gets a bit more daring. He also can suddenly climb onto chairs and is manuevering down the outside stairs. He is so proud of walking that sometimes he falls because he gets too excited. Exciting times.
Bridget and Logan, Kimball, and Calvin discovering dino fossils.

Rowbury Family Reunion
Last weekend was the Rowbury reunion in Rexburg, Idaho. It was a bit colder than we would have liked, but we had a good time.
Licorice helped the drive go by happy!
We were the first with young kids to arrive…so we had the playground to our selves.
Kimball was a great helper, pushing Sterling in the swing while Ammon set up camp.
Waking up is so wonderful…Sterling loved sleeping in the tent.
Before we started the drive home, we went to see the Rexburg Temple.
The Roger and Rose Rowbury bunch.
Highlights: the kids loved the candy cannon, swimming with cousins, dancing as a family, tents, and non stop play time. Ammon went with a group and rafted the Snake river (freezing). It was fun family time.
Our Famous Tree
The tree in our front yard died in the spring. No shade and pretty pathetic looking…but our neighbor needed a tree for a set/scene he contracted to build…and our lucky tree is going to be famous!
It was quite exciting to watch it get cut down. It’s going…
going…
and gone!
Popsicles on the porch with friends, watching the show.
The yard seems so long, now that the tree is gone!
DFR
The 2009 Diether Family Reunion (July 30- Aug 2) was a big hit. The kids can’t wait for everyone to get together again! We had a long weekend packed with fun.
Thursday was craft time and swimming at scera pool.
Friday we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. In the evening we had a BBQ and Carnival!
The boys favorite booth…defeat the strongest man in the world, Justino!
Calvin and Logan watching the goldfish race.
Forget the bowling ball, it’s human bowling. Sterling knocks down the pins.
No carnival is complete without prizes! Sterling enjoys the bubbles.
Saturday started early with fishing. Logan caught all the fish. He was very thrilled. The rest of us joined the fishermen later for a fun hot day at the lake.
Kimball and Elle enjoy a break on the beach.
Logan and Cleve prepare for more fishing.
After the lake we let little ones nap. We had a book review and entertainment night.
Here we are performing our “pyramid of pachyderms”
Ta da!
Logan joined in on the drums during Mom, Dad, Chan and Cleve’s songs.
Sunday morning was time for family pictures and off to church. Thanks to Breezy’s friend for taking the photos.
Here we are all ready for church.
and the funny faces…
The group shot
Monday (post reunion activity) We had pizza dinner and went to Bridal Veil Falls…brrr cold water.
Kimball, Calvin, Logan and Elle enjoyed climbing the falls.
Sterling loved the water, but kept shivering…it was really cold water.
Girls: Bridget, Moriah, and Cordie!
What a great reunion. So wonderful to see everyone who could make it. These pictures barely skim over the fun we had. This was not just an ordinary family reunion…it was a family Extravaganza!
Hanging with Cousins
Birthday Boy
Kimball
Last week Kimball earned his wolf badge in Cub Scouts. It was presented at the space derby pack meeting. His rocket worked super. He turned nine on Sunday, with celebrations starting Saturday evening! He is a great kid. We love Kimball.
Cool rocket with green glow in the dark stripes! Kimball and Calvin exuberant that Kimball’s rocket won that race!
Hot dog roast at Uncle David’s and Aunt Heidi’s, guess how many hotdogs are cooking!
He had to try out the new squirt gun from Aunt Amy and Uncle Paul.
Smore cake for dessert…and marshmallows to roast, yummy!
Sunday afternoon, we had a treasure hunt to find the birthday presents. The gifts were hiding in the back of the van.
He got a new bike and 3 bakugan’s. The toys were by far the best.
Calvin wearing the “rainbow” 3D glasses from the color explosion book from Grandma and Grandpa.
more cake, more candles…what a lucky boy.
Driel and family came to join in the cake time festivities.
Celebrate Freedom
We enjoyed the 4th of July celebrations! Of all the pictures I took, this picture of Sterling is my favorite freedom picture!
Hip Hip Hooray for the red, white, and blue….Gooooooooooo Freedom!
We enjoyed pre 4th of July time with Uncle Justin. He came in on Thursday night or Friday morning depending how you look at it. The kids woke up to the surprise of Justin being at our house! We had some fun slip and sliders! Ammon gave the kids a little help to get them actually sliding on their tummies.
Even Sterling went sliding…but he liked best to watch from the side line and play in the water!
Friday evening Grandma, Grandpa, and Chandler made it to town! Sat the 4th was filled with a morning lake trip, bbq, pizza fest, popsicles and icecream and fireworks.
Chan and Kimball took the first ride.
Breezy and Grandma
Bridget, Logan, Moriah, and Kathy take it nice and easy!
Logan shows off a snail on the beach.
the picnic sight
fun times at home…Justin tossing the kids on to the tramp.
watching the little fireworks show.
Glow sticks at the end of the fireworks were the biggest hit of all!
It was super to have a full day of family, food, and fun. Thanks to Justin we had enough icecream to satisfy all for days. It was a great party day, a good celebration, we love freedom.
