The water trampoline came on Monday! Ammon set it up in the back yard to test it out. We had half the neighborhood here for endless jumping, swimming, mud holes, and sunburns! It was a very loud and exciting afternoon. The kids wish it was still set up. We plan to take it out on the lake this weekend!
Boy’s Quilts
Last spring I put some quilt tops together for the boys. In the fall I started the machine quilting. This morning I spent one hour quilting Calvin’s quilt and that is all I had left! Why did I wait so long? The beds look great with the matching spreads! The boys are thrilled to finally have their new quilts.
Happy Birthday
I made an ice cream cake for Ammon’s birthday. When I went to put it in the freezer to harden the fridge died! Oh the dilemma. Ammon cleaned out the coils with the shop vac and pretty soon the fridge was working again. What a relief. The cake (though still quite soft) and all the food was saved thanks to Ammon! The kids loved having a party for dad. We can’t wait until his real present comes…a water trampoline for the lake!
Cold Water
Yesterday was the last day of school! It is Summer Vacation! Kimball wanted to party. We had a lunch picnic in the backyard, washed the car on the lawn, and went to the lake in the evening. The water was COLD! Only Ammon and Hyrum jumped in. Kimball and Calvin took a ride on the hotdog (of course it was mild and slow so they wouldn’t fall in). It was a very fun day!

Memorial day
Yesterday was Memorial day. We had hoped to make it a day on the lake, but the rainy weather kept us home. Thank you to Driel and Evan, we had a fun BBQ in the evening. Thanks to Hyrum the kids spent some time at two different parks midday. During the park time and after the BBQ were the clearest times of the day…so the weather cooperated for some activities. Today Logan insisted on connecting 7 straws into one long straw. He was so proud of his ability to “drink from the mountain.” This afternoon, Bridget wanted to swim. I gave her a sled full of water. After countless efforts of keeping clothes or at least a diaper on, we went for the swimming suit! She was pretty cute.
Transom Framing Part 1
The weather made going to the lake out of the question, but it was a good weekend for boat building. After figuring out you don’t need a power planer, I did quite a bit of work with the jack plane pictured.
The transom is framed with solid stock. You see here 2×3 on the sides and 2×6 on the bottom.
The top still needs to be framed with a 1×3 and the bottom needs an additional layer of 2×6.
School dance festival
Kimball’s class, along with all of the 2nd grade classes, danced to the song “Do You Love Me?” by the Contours. It was a chilly day and on the verge of rain, but the dance festival went on. The younger kids didn’t “love” being there until after the festival was over and we took a few minutes to play on the playground!

Sister’s picnic
Thanks to my sister Rachel, who organized a picnic in Lehi, UT for any of the siblings who could come while Susann and Frans were in town. Mom, Kathy, Susann, Rachel, Annette and April all made it! Kimball was at school, so Calvin was the oldest of the cousins down to the babies. It was lots of fun to play and a great time to visit!
Last Day of Preschool Pals
Calvin and Logan finished the year of preschool. The iris’s in the front yard were blooming and beautiful, which made a great backdrop for some happy kids. They both are fascinated with abc’s and writing. I am amazed how much they changed just over the last 2 months. Calvin loves to color spending long amounts of time getting things just right.
