4th of July Weekend

We enjoyed the 4th of July weekend with Ammon’s parents, Justin, Driel (and family), and Breezy (and Gable).  We had a nice trip to the lake with a great BBQ, dinner at Thai Village, and then fireworks in the evening.  It made for an exciting yet long, no nap kind of day. I didn’t have my camera on the boat, so only pics of the picnic site.

Justin grills a mean hamburger or hotdog!

Breezy poses just in time for the pic!

Fireworks in the evening.

More 4th of July to come!

End of June

Yeah…we have warm sunny days and the start of lake trips.  We went as a family mid June.  The water was pretty cold still.  The kids really wanted to swim…I opted to stay on the boat with Bridget!  The boys are really brave, Logan jumped off the hotdog, far from the boat, just to swim!  Oh kids are full of adventure!

Calvin, Logan and Bridget…we are fond of “no hands”

Sterling played on the hotdog instead of swimming in the cold water.

Driel, Evan and girls joined us for a boat trip the end of June.  It was lots of fun.

Driel holding Sterling, Bridget in front.

Taking easy rides for all the daring, and not so daring, little ones!

Always time for swimming…I think it is Calvin’s favorite part of going to the lake.

Sterling got his 2nd haircut the end of June.  He had long fine baby hair that needed a trim.  He is a handsome boy.

Busy June

The month of June was super busy.  Ammon and I both went to Youth Conf and Girls Camp.  Not only did we go as leaders, but we had to prepare for the activities and clean up too (but that is a given :).  Anyway, the kids were troopers, spending a few nights at Driel and Evans (Thank you, thank you!) while we were gone.  I enjoyed the opportunities, but am very glad to be home, clean, have my own bed, and be with my kids!

Eating dinner the first night of Youth Conf.

Sterling all beautiful with his own make up job.  He must put on make up whenever Mom does!

The kids with their “sea monster” creations for summer storytime at the library.

Busy June ended with summer weather and the start of boat season!

May (I’m catching up!)

Bridget’s Preschool graduation.  Logan went to afternoon kindergarten, so he also was in preschool.

Kimball and all the 4th grade kids went on a pioneer handcart trek.  I joined them in the gathering field for lunch and pioneer activities.  The trek was all of 2 miles…and the kids gained a big understanding of the pioneers going west.

Mid month:  Logan, Bridget, Sterling and I joined aunts, uncle, and cousins at the dino museum.

One week before school ended was the annual dance festival and field day.  It was a fun busy day for all.

Logan (kindergarten) danced the “Humpty Dumpty”

Calvin (first grade) danced “The 3 little pigs.”  The boys were the big bad wolf!

Kimball (4th grade) did square dancing.

Nice face paint!  Logan wanted an army guy.

Visiting the cemetery to remember loved ones on Memorial day!  It was tough to get any pics…silly kids.

End of April

April ended with Logan’s kindergarten program and his 6th birthday!  He wanted a pirate theme.  I had fun making a treasure chest cake and hiding to be the prize at the end of the treasure hunt!  Happy birthday (2 months later) to my little Logan!

New Piano

We bought a new (to us) piano yesterday!  It was quite the job hauling the old piano to DI and then bringing home the new piano.  It is so fun to play and the keys all work :)  the sound is nice :)  and we got a great deal!  Now to keep the kids practicing over the summer!

Early April

April started with Easter/General Conference weekend.  The following week was spring break, the kids enjoyed lots of fun festivities.

Maybe it was just waking up from his nap, or maybe the idea of painting eggs was too much, or who really knows why, but Sterling was not in the mood to color eggs and have his picture taken.  He has some great facial expressions.

Bridget loved the eggs, pink of course was her favorite.

Logan sharing a debonair smile for the camera.

It is tricky to get pics of Kimball and Calvin…they like to hide or be goofy!  It is great to be young boys!

Sterling enjoyed the easter egg hunt at grandma’s house with many of the Rowbury cousins.  The basket made a great necklace and hat.

One day of spring break we went to Kangaroo zoo.  We jumped and went on slides to our hearts content.  Sterling even loved the really big slides…with moms help.

Kimball “smiles” for the camera at Kangaroo zoo.

New Sunday clothes.  Bridget has been wearing her new dress for months…but now the boys are looking sharp too.  I am getting better at tying ties.

Sterling looking stellar too.

Neglected Blog

I have not been blogging…there is so much to share…I plan to post pics of the last few months…I hope you enjoy.

From the month of March!

Preschool field trip to the grocery store.  Sterling really enjoyed his icecream, amazingly he did not drip on his shirt.

Logan is thinking “yummy”

Calvin had a talent show at school and played 2 pieces for his class!  Calvin and Kimball started piano lessons in February, Logan joined the lessons in April.

Fourth graders had hands on learning.  Here is Kimball after the Mountain Man Rendevous.

Bridget and Ammon ready for the daddy daughter dance.  She was so excited to dress up and go dancing!

Sterling says “Happy Anniversary mom and dad.”  March 27th we celebrated our 11th anniversary.  Sterling loves hats of all varieties, but especially Calvin’s winter hat.

Tragedy

Bridget experienced tragedy today.  It is rather humorous (in the past tense), but at the time it was very traumatic.  We went case lot shopping in the morning.  The grocery store gave the 3 kids a balloon on the way out of the store.  Bridget had a fantastic science experiment in mind.  She took hair bows/flowers and clipped the 3 balloons together and thought it would be safe to let the balloons be outside….Oh the tears, the lamenting, the saddness…the balloons and the bows floated gracefully to outer space (or somewhere far away)…”maybe we could build a rocket” she said.  Oh, will we ever learn that Helium is lighter than air?  Not to worry, she has moved on to other exciting adventures.

Bridget adorned with bows from Aunt Lorein.

Sterling Fun

Just some really great pics of one silly little boy.

Friday morning he woke up with a swollen hand…he had found a hair elastic and put it on his wrist…and slept with it all night.  I removed the elastic and rubbed his hand.  He has been using his fingers, has no bruising, and no troubles (we are very blessed) but he still has a nice red mark around his wrist.

Calvin’s First Grade Play

Calvin did a wonderful job in his class play “King Bidgood’s In The Bathtub.”  He was the Page (King’s attendant)

We enjoyed the production.  It was 10 fabulous and funny minutes.  Calvin was definitely the star of the show…he was the only one who knew how to get the king out of the bathtub…

…he pulled the plug!

Three cheers for Calvin!
